About the HBC
The Hydaburg Business Center (HBC) was founded in the spring of 2009 with funding kindly provided by USDA Rural Development. The HBC is located in the City’s main office, in Hydaburg, Alaska.
This project is run by the Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska Business and Economic Development Department and supported by local organizations and the community of Hydaburg. It represents a community effort to foster business opportunities and success in Hydaburg. The City of Hydaburg generously donated office space; the Hydaburg City Schools donated office furniture; and the Hydaburg Cooperative Association assisted with office materials and services.
Our goal is to turn the Center into an educational hub that will promote economic growth through the development of small business enterprises in Hydaburg. The Center provides technical assistance and training to community members, and helps entrepreneurs explore the unique opportunities for business development that exist in the community.
These opportunities include (but are not limited to) -
- art
- culture
- protecting traditions
- responsible tourism
- retail sales
- food services
- value added fish products
- and many others
By working together to create and develop business in Hydaburg, our culture, art, and people will thrive in the modern economy.
